Learn English on your own, without doing it alone.
I based this course on what actually worked for me when I learned Chinese:
You may know the alphabet and a few isolated words (like “hello,” “thank you,” “yes,” “no”), but you cannot form sentences or understand basic conversations. You need everything explained clearly in your native language.
You can introduce yourself, ask simple questions (like “Where are you from?”), and talk about everyday topics like family, weather, and food—but only with slow, clear speech and simple vocabulary. You can write short, basic sentences.
You can handle everyday tasks like shopping, ordering food, and talking about your job or hobbies. You understand frequently used expressions and can describe your background and immediate needs. You still make mistakes, but you can get your point across.
Each lesson is designed to be completed over the course of a week. Every week-long lesson is divided into 6 short, 30-minute daily study sessions.
Every day, you will focus on a different language skill, such as reading, listening, writing, and speaking, reinforcing and building on what you have learned over the course of the week.
01
You will make sure that you understand the meanings of all of the individual words that will be used throughout the weeks lesson. If needed, you will create flashcards to help learn any unfamiliar words.
02
You will make sure that you can understand the words in the context of full sentences. Translate sentences from English to your native language, and become aware of how differently worded sentences might change the overall meaning.
03
Practice understanding words in context with the natural time-limit imposed by human speech. This takes what you have already learned and makes you process it faster and more automatically.
04
Construct your own sentences, first by using guides such as sentence patterns and translating sentences from your native language into English. Eventually, after enough practice, you will begin to be able to create your own sentences naturally and easily.
05
Practice responding in the moment to real-world situations. Respond in real time to questions without hesitation.
06
Pull everything that you have learned together with a live online class. Review all skills with a tutor, who will monitor your progress and identify areas where you might be struggling and can give you extra, targeted study material. Both 1-on-1 and small group classes are available
